Research peptides are sensitive to heat, light, and moisture. Proper storage of lyophilized and reconstituted material is what keeps a sample stable and usable for its intended research purpose.

Why storage matters

Peptides are chains of amino acids, and like most biological molecules they can degrade over time — faster when exposed to warmth, light, humidity, or repeated temperature swings. For a researcher, degradation means the sample may no longer match its Certificate of Analysis, which undermines any work done with it. Careful storage is simply about keeping the material as close as possible to the state it was verified in.

Why a Certificate of Analysis is the reference point

A Certificate of Analysis (COA) reports a sample's measured identity and purity at the time it was tested — typically identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC. Good storage is what preserves the sample in a state consistent with that COA. When evaluating a supplier, an independent, published COA is one of the clearest signals that the material was what it claimed to be when it left the lab. Does a peptide need to be refrigerated during shipping?
